Hospitality and Tourism SHSM

The Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) in Hospitality and Tourism is a specialized program for high school students interested in careers related to travel, tourism, hotels, restaurants, and event planning. It allows students to explore the industry through hands-on experiences, field trips and certifications (like Smart Serve, First Aid, Food Handlers Certification and Customer Service). Students often pair this experience with a co-op placement.

By participating in this Hospitality and Tourism SHSM, students develop valuable skills such as teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and leadership. Students who are passionate about service, travel, food, or planning events find this to be a rewarding experience.
