Our Chaplain: Ms. Mary
Here at CDSBEO we are lucky to have full time Chaplaincy leaders in our High Schools who offer a ministry of presence to staff and students throughout the school year, Monday to Friday, 7:30am-3pm.
Chaplaincy leaders are usually lay people (non-ordained people) who have a background in Theology and a Master's degree in a related area.
Catholic High School Chaplaincy leaders are here for all students and staff regardless of faith or tradition. We are here to celebrate the liturgical year with you through prayer, liturgy/ sacrament, outreach, and ministry activities. We are here to walk with you in good times and in bad.
Please stop by the Chapel and Chaplaincy office to say "Hi!" to the Chaplaincy leader and to spend some time in our beautiful Chapel.
Since October 2024 Ms. Mary Elaine Goulah has been leading us in Chaplaincy at St. Michael CHS. Ms. Mary has a background in Psychology and Theology from The University of Ottawa and a MA Pastoral Studies-Individual Counselling from St. Paul University-Ottawa U. She has spent 24 years ministering to a High School community in Kingston Ontario and is now loving her new communities, working, and living in the catchment area of CDSBEO.
Ms. Mary prioritizes the Catholic Social Teaching of having a "Preferential Option for the poor and vulnerable". This recognizes that everyone is deserving of dignity and respect, but priority goes to those who might find themselves on the margins or in the minority at our school, country, Church, or world.
